Jetpets have been safely transporting pets for over 30 years and have proven processes and policies in place to ensure the safe transport of pets. Our heat policy ensures that your furbaby will not be exposed to any prolonged periods of heat during their travel.
Our policy stipulates where there are extreme hot temperatures forecast, pets must be in the air by 9am. Speak to our pet travel consultants to discuss your specific requirements. In making any changes to your pet’s itinerary, their safety, comfort and welfare is our number one priority.
This service has been designed for those travellers that are happy to arrange the drop off and collection of their pets to and from the airport and widely used for those clients travelling with their pets. Our team will work with you to arrange your pets’ flights that best suit your travel plans.
It’s uncommon for pets to become unwell while in our care during travel. However, in the unlikely event that this occurs, our trained pet handlers will promptly inform you of any concerns. We will then work closely with you to coordinate a medical examination with your preferred veterinarian, depending on the situation.
As every pet is unique, we would assess this on a case-by-case situation and make the decision that is in the best interest of the pets. There are specific guidelines to follow set out by the Live Animal Regulations when it comes to multiple pets in the same crate. This is something you can discuss with one of our pet travel consultants at time of quoting.
If your pet soils themselves prior to arriving at the airport and you are using our Door to Door Services, we may be able to clean the crate prior to arriving at the airport for their travel and still meet their flight check in. Where this is unable to be done, we would re-book the next available flight.
We also do not recommend that you feed your pets within 8 hours of their travel. We do ask that you keep them hydrated with water prior to travel. Depending on the distance of flights, some pets will soil their crates and this is unfortunately unavoidable.
We do recommend purchasing one of our fleece dry mats, which absorbs some of the moisture where soling may occur, for that added level of protection for the flight. Speak to our pet travel consultant for more information.
No, it is not mandatory for pets to have a microchip for domestic travel, but we strongly recommend that they do! Microchips are critical to ensuring the safety of your pets when in transit and they act as a unique identifier for both Jetpets and our airline partners.
With sufficient notice, our Pet Travel Consultants may be able to reschedule your flights. We’ll do our best to secure your preferred date and time; however, this will depend on airline availability and scheduling. Please note that any changes may affect your original quote, but our Pet Travel Consultant will confirm any adjustments with you before proceeding.
Travel restrictions may apply depending on your pet’s size, weight, and the origin and destination of your journey. Airlines have weight limits in place, and allowable travel crates can vary based on the aircraft type. If any restrictions affect your pet’s travel, your Jetpets Travel Consultant will advise you and may suggest alternative road transport options if needed.
Weather can impact the travel plans for your pets. Jetpets have our own extreme weather policies in place to ensure we limit the exposure to any excessive hot or cold conditions. In the summer months, our team will avoid booking flights during the middle of the day, and in winter avoid early or late arriving flights.
No. Both Jetpets and airlines are unable to provide insurance for your pet’s travel. You may wish to contact your pet insurance company to consider the options that may be available to you.
